It would be helpful to expose modem status information shown in the GUI (Modem Status: SIM1: Disconnected SIM2: Connected) via the API to enable remote device monitoring. We're experiencing quite frequent SIM and/or modem failures which we currently cannot detect, causing problems in production.

API exposes signal strength, queue length and modem state, but none of these is sufficient to find out whether at least one modem is working:
- PUK locked SIM shows signal strength OK
- when sending occasional SMSes queue length is not usable
- modem state only shows whether the modem is turned on or disabled
