Better REST/JSON support

The features provided by the software are only partially covered via JSONRPC interface. It would be nice to have a fully covered JSONRPC interface for each and every feature. Probably the best solution would be to have a Swagger (http://swagger.io) definition, from which clients could be built for various of programming languages (java, c#, python, ruby, etc.)

When using alot of cloud services JSONRPC is becomming more and more prevailent as the way to send data to API's. Microsoft OMS which we are using for monitoring uses this for their alerting, they have email too but cant authenticate using the methods provided by SMSeaglem so thats a no-go for me.

Also an API token function would be alot better for the user access than having these usernames and passwords in clear text within scripts. Following many companies compliancy policies.
